Gawr Gura Quest for Bread Silly hats in Quest for Bread

How to hunt cosmetics without wrecking a first run.

Hats Guide

Silly hats are the collectible Steam put on the store page beside bosses and speedrun mode. They are jokes you wear, not a gacha and not a crafting tree. Kenny’s Next Fest note told people to jump a lava fortress, fight a cool boss, and grab a hat or two. This page is the hunt method. Names stay blank until they are public.

Grammar of a hat

Hats live off the obvious grey path. Lava-fortress footage already shows a white sphere at Gura’s feet on a rock beside the torch block. That is the language. Look on pillars that need a spin the exit does not need, behind the camera after a boss door, across a death plane you already cleared, and in dialogue rooms after you mash the pickle line with Amelia and Ina.

If you cannot see the landing, skip it. Tick the room in the hat tracker and stay on the walkthrough. The game saves anytime. Dying in magma for a cosmetic is a bad trade on a first file.

What this wiki will not invent

There is no official public spreadsheet of every hat name as of launch week. We will not fabricate one. The hat tier list ranks hunt difficulty — safe ledge, camera-hide, lava greed, post-boss — not fashion. When a name lands in a Steam guide, add it to the tracker yourself.

Demo versus the 27 August 2026 release

The demo slice is a lava fortress plus a boss plus a hat or two. The shipped campaign is about two hours with hats as a headline feature, so expect more rooms. Do a story clear. Then replay with the tracker open. Dedicated speedrun mode is the wrong file for completionists.

Hunt loop that actually finishes

  1. Enter a stage you already beat.
  2. Walk the exit line with no detours so geometry is fresh. Refresh verbs in How to Play if lava still surprises you.
  3. Second pass: look up, look behind, look across magma.
  4. Tick the tracker. If the hat has no public name, write a description (“lava torch pillar”) until the community agrees.
  5. If a boss room might hide one, read the boss guide first. Do not hunt millinery during a bar labelled Mori Calliope.

Hats are why a two-hour game still has a second evening. Pair the sweep with achievements — the overlay may later tease a joke badge for looking ridiculous on purpose. Then bounce back to the Guides Hub or the review if you are deciding whether cosmetics justify another session.

The embedded video is a real demo speedrun. Watch for side pickups the runner ignores; those ignored sparkles are often your hat homework.

Rooms you can actually header

Lava fortress: grey rock, orange magma, torch on a taller block, white sphere near Gura’s feet. Treat the sphere as hunt grammar even if it is an orb rather than a hat. If you jumped it clean, it was a B. If you died, it was S — come back with the hat tracker.

Calliope concert: packed cyan skulls, pink columns, red throne. Zero millinery until Mori Calliope is dead, then turn around. The leftover is usually an A camera-hide, not a first-file grab.

Torii dialogue: pickle line with Amelia and Ina, trident on the floor, wet edges. Tick C after you mash. The walkthrough calls this rest; hats still hide in rest rooms.

Starry canyon: bathtub sky, long falls, a roofed well, coral-coloured plants. Recalibrate from magma habits. A hidden landing is still S when the death plane is air. Then return to the Guides Hub.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for first-time shark pilots and 100% hunters.

How many hats are there?

Steam does not print a number on the store page. Hunt per stage with the hat tracker instead of trusting a made-up total.

Do hats change combat?

Treat them as cosmetics until the game tells you otherwise. Never skip a heal-looking bar for a hat.

Should I hat-hunt in speedrun mode?

No. Use a story file. Speedrun mode is covered in the speedrun guide.
